At first I was not excited towards the materials and the idea that I would be finger painting in a college class. But once I began mixing colors and feeling the paint on my hands I began to look at art in a whole new light. I began experimenting with different parts of the hand like the nail to get thin trenches that stood out in a three dimensional way or with the use of my fingertips applying pressure to bring out the paint underneath the surface coat which stood out more like in the picture above. This activity was much more difficult than I had expected because during my creation, I had to think about which colors would further add to the overall picture. This assignment was very inspiring due to the simple fact that a painting with just your hands can really look like a creation of beauty and imagination. Most other paintings I’ve seen are portraits of people which don’t express the field of creativity and imagination. I spent a lot of time adding more paint to create an even ground and would design things using my fingers.
